FROM IDEA TO REALITY: THE EVOLUTION OF WHEATLEYDEFORGEFOUNDATION.ORG
February 1, 2023
We found the perfect building.
INTERVIEW WITH WHEATLEYDEFORGEFOUNDATION.ORG DIRECTOR
coming soon
We are creating a crew of challenged individuals giving them the much need support and start them on a road to a better life.
It's a Voluntary Program
The first night is free.
Ray's Roommate's is a voluntary program to provide shelter and food to those in our community to help get them back on track.

It is not limited to people with disabilities, it is for people facing a crisis, mental health issues, and situational events that places them at risk.

Unlike Opportunity Village a Las Vegas Non-profit. WDFF providing help to any non-violent individual that needs it.
As a PTA dad volunteer hours added up to thousands of dollars of free labor for the nonprofit organization. Non-profits depend on volunteers and our program depends on people in need volunteering their time for shelter and food credits. Based on the idea that if you can do the work as a volunteer you can transition into a paid position /employment.

Housekeeping Services like cleaning rooms, changing the sheets, cleaning restrooms, showers, community areas are all jobs in the hotel casino industry. Shelter and food for individuals in the program are not free but at a reduced cost. The more you volunteer the more credits you earn toward housing and food. The goal is to get individuals into a paid position and transfer them into affordable permanent housing.

We then can transition people into the Otherside Restaurant and Bar, or front desk to help checking individuals in al out of the program. These are paid positions that put cash toward their bill and in their pockets. Job training for transitioning into the Las Vegas economy.

All supported by NV medicaid mental health case management, and counseling. Our partnership with Independent Counselors of Las Vegas and other community mental health partners. This all depends on what makes people homeless, and unemployed. Is the cost vs income, and or a mental health condition, or medical condition.

It is the give back from the for profit organizations that supports the full cost of Ray's Roommates.
Ray's Roommate's is not a apartment, or long-term housing. It is like signing into a gym, or spa and you are charged by the hour. 12 hours is $10. Check out and go to work and check in again after your shift. Volunteer for four hours and get 12 hour pass to come back again.

Entrance into the program includes, a PO Box address, a room for 12 hours and access to a shower and a place to laundry, a limited storage area if needed. Access to telehealth resources and food.

I dream too lofty dreams I'm told.
And someday I will regret it.
For there our no buyers for dreams being sold.
And life's too short to forget it.
We are a plan in progress and inviting you to join us.
